Never Too Early for Financial Literacy Kids! Part 3

My students need snack items, school supplies, business books, and filament to create a class business.

  • $414 goal

Hooray! This project is fully funded

My Students

Our fine arts magnet school is located in a vibrant and diverse community. Although we are in a high poverty district, our school has been able to retain our fine arts magnet status. However, it has been a challenge to find the funding for exciting learning materials.

The students who attend our school all receive free and reduced-priced lunch.

We have a highly diverse immigrant population. As a choice school, students from many different backgrounds and countries attend our fine arts program. Teachers at our school work diligently to bring every student exciting real world learning activities.

My Project

This is part three of our classroom financial literacy project. We are fortunate to already have a 3D printer in our classroom. The students have been learning about the future potential of this technology in the business world and medical field. Therefore, two 3D business books have been included in this project so that we can formulate a plan and discover what would best sell to our targeted audiences. We have a stock of filament, however, glow in the dark filament is included in this project as it would be very popular with our elementary students. After reading the business books and taking a school survey we will print the most popular items on our 3D printer! The students will also be involved in a school supply and snack business. We will start by selling pencils and glue sticks -two items we already know there is a need of. A variety of snack items has been included that will be very popular. Profits will keep the business going!

Batteries have also been included as both teachers and students are always in need of these.

We will sell these at a low cost for classroom hot dots, clocks, portable CD/tape players, etc... It will be exciting to share the concept of marketing and business with my students. So many lessons will be learned through this process -marketing, customer demands, advertising, price setting, making change, and reinvesting in ones business. We would be honored to have your support!
