Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are full of imagination and never let their learning disabilities get in their way of making progress and achieving their dreams. They come from low-income households and most do not have access to a device such as a tablet or a laptop.

Many of my students have to share a device with 2-3 siblings which make it impossible for them to do their assignments online.

As their special education teacher, I have created Modified learning packets and delivered them to their homes. My goal is to make my kids feel successful with these learning materials. My campus is currently using Seesaw as our learning platform, 2/22 students have joined and submitted assignments since we began with this new venture.

My Project

I am hoping this project will help me provide my students with the comfort and support they need during these difficult times. I would like to share with you a message sent to me by one of my fourth grade students so you can see first hand how much all my students are suffering in trying to understand what is going on. Please keep in mind that this message has been written by a special education child, I did not correct any spelling or grammatical errors.

“You make work fun i Never see you work so hard befor i said this i am n you make things so easier for me.

I'm just scared because I said this isn't scared for her for 6th grade to come and one minute deal my life I'm scared sorry I just wanted to say thank you for all you done for me you teach me how to read it's me how to loosen things that could not ever do you're the best thank you for listening to my messages I just felt left out from all the things we did I know this was a hard experience for me but I don't want to leave BA elementary it's so hard for me to know nobody's going to be there for my side when I get to higher grades I hope you read this message before you call me where are so you tried everything for us you helped us.
