This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My students need a camera, battery, and memory card to know it's not what you look at in life that matters, it's how you see it.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Could you imagine school being the most secure and stable place in your life? The one place you know a hot meal will be waiting for you? How about asking your teacher if you could take a nap because it's the one place you feel safest.
Every child should know someone in life is on their side and believes in them.
My students come from a neighborhood most people try to avoid. Some students come to school hungry because their last meal was lunch at school the day before. Some of my students come to school without their homework done, not because the dog ate it, but because they currently don't have lights on until mom finds help paying the bill. My students are on 100% free and reduced-price lunches.
When my students enter the art studio, not only does their imagination grow, but so does their superhero skills. My students are all considered superheros because when the rest of the world has thought to give up, they will rise above and succeed. Art helps people see the world a little different. Color makes the world a little brighter when it should seem dullest. And happiness comes from inspiring others.
Did you know the art department is constantly getting budget cuts? What fun would elementary school be without learning to paint and color, learning how to cut paper lanterns, and learn to make our moms pinch pots for Mother's Day?
Imagine being a Superhero without a Super Cape.
This camera will allow my students to learn how to focus on peers achievements, captures life's happiest moments, and share a common interest with their friends. During school performances, my students can learn to record plays to show at later times; during art shows, my students can capture the passion of visual arts; and during school functions, my students can utilize their love for art and create memories.
Because of the background of my students, they do not have the opportunity to experience many different styles of art. With this camera, I can teach my students about patience, sometimes students are in such a hurry to "just finish" a project instead of learning to be creative. When taking pictures it is about waiting for the perfect lighting, or the perfect action, nothing about photography can be rushed.
An extra battery and memory will be used when we go on art club field trips, performances, and school functions. Sometimes we're on the move and don't have time to stop and unload all of the pictures, the memory card will allow us to store more pictures at once. Also, with busy schedules, it's only a matter of time, we will forget to charge our battery. An extra battery will be very handy in a hurry.
