Most of my students are English Language Learners, some of whom are new refugees. At our school, there are a total of 37 languages spoken, and in my classroom this year I have students speaking 10 different languages! We have great diversity and love celebrating all of the different cultures.
Unfortunately, many of my students also come from low-income households.
Though this may impact their home life, we do our best to make sure it does not affect their life at school. This can be difficult with limited access to resources, which is why your help is so important.
Even though my students might face more challenges, they always come to school eager and ready to learn! We love to have fun learning and exploring in Kindergarten, and I hope you can help!
My Project
During free choice time my students this year absolutely love when I teach them how to play a board or card game. I have noticed that they learn many important life skills through these games such as turn taking, problem solving, math and literacy skills, and just how to get along with others. I have many ESL students who can practice their English while playing as well.
Even though my students love these games, they have been playing the same few games for over two months now!
I just don't have any other games in the classroom. I would love to have more games to teach my students throughout the school year. They have so much fun while playing that they don't even realize all the great skills they are developing!
