Our school is a K through 8 charter school that attracts students from all over the city. We have a high population of students who receive services through ESOL and Special Education. We are also a Title I school because a great deal of our students qualify for free and reduced meals.

Our school attendance committee works hard every year to try and keep our monthly attendance level above 96%....yet sometimes this can be difficult. We want our students to be in school every day but sometimes this does not happen. Some of our students might come from a home where their parent is working the late shift and can't see them off to school or some live with relatives who can't walk them to school.

At our school, we have devised a new plan, the "NBA" (Never Been Absent). This is a year long competition between grade levels to see which grade can have the best monthly attendance. Throughout the month we give out small incentives like basketball pencils and erasers but we need a big reward to really pull them in. Providing the winning grade with basketballs would definitely do this.

Your help will make school an exciting place for all of our students. It will give them an end goal to look forward to and something to work as a group together to achieve. Please help us achieve our NBA dreams!
