This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The motto "Never Again" has been used by the victims and survivors of the Holocaust as a message to the world. WE cannot ever allow such an atrocity from occurring again. The materials and supplies for this project will focus student attention on making a positive difference in the world.

Students in the inner city neighborhoods of PA are exposed to almost every social issue known to the United States.

Our students are plagued with the unbearable traumas that no child should ever have to know. Unfortunately, our students do know. Students come to us with personal issues that cut to the heart to who they are as people. For example, students come to us to discuss the following serious issues they face on a daily basis. They include: drug and alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, witnessing fellow classmates getting killed, living on a drug block, teen pregnancy, close relatives in prison for many years, GLTB issues, peer pressure, and bullying. They are intelligent and capable young people, who need the skill sets for understanding history and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

My Project

A head without a heart is dangerous. Our young people live in environments of crime and abuse. These materials will be utilized on a daily basis to reduce prejudice, discrimination, and hatred. The "In a Jar" materials are icebreakers and discussion starters to help students think about their daily choices and how those choices impact the lives of others. The videos about the Holocaust will introduce students to the choices that individual people had in the Nazi era. The lessons of the Holocaust are profoundly explained in the Holocaust Chronicle and The World Must Know. Finally, the materials on the Civil Rights Movement and the Matthew Shepard Story are devastating reminders that Hate Crimes based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, and culture still plague our society. Only through a thorough understanding of the past can students make the changes necessary to bring prejudice and discrimination to an end.

Please help me make a difference by giving our students the tools they need to live productive lives filled with integrity, honor, and purpose.

These materials will help to achieve that end.
