Our district consists of minority students and Title 1 schools(low income).The D.V.

International Explorers Organization was founded in 2010. Our first trip was to Costa Rica, it was amazing! Many of the students rode an airplane and experienced the Ocean for the first time. This trip was valuable because we took what we learned in the classroom and experienced it first hand.

My Project

One of the challenges we faced was communication out of the country. Many of my students could not contact their parents via telephone. The majority of the hotels however, had wifi. This computer will allow students to communicate through email. This computer would also be used to research different destinations we attend. For example, our trip next year will be to The Great Wall of China. If we had a Netbook, the students would be able to research the history and activities of the wall.

This technology will not only allow us to communicate and research in our destinations but it will also keep us safe, we will be able to access to the entire world and update our friends and family of our well being.

When this computer is not being used on student based trips, it will allow students in my classroom to conduct research projects and participate in the school's reading program called "Accelerator Reader."

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
