My class consists of 80 fifth grade students. Our school has over 800 students in grades 5 and 6 which makes for a large and exciting learning environment. My students come from four elementary schools within the district and this is the first time that all of the students are in the same building.
The students in our school work extremely hard every day and create a community of respect for self, property, and others.
We hold true to our "Keys to the Castle" where everyone feels comfortable to take risks and be active learners. Through quality educational experiences, we prepare students to become productive and responsible citizens in an ever-changing global society.
My Project
We have amazing collaborative tables that help to inspire and promote student learning. We have used a variety of seating that helps to keep students engaged in the lesson. The Neo Rok stools are created to engage the student's body to help engage the student's mind.
We have started to transition to these stools for some of our tables but need more to offer this amazing and contemporary seating to our classroom.
The long-term goal is to have all of the seats in the room be the same and use the NeoRok stools for all students.
Earlier this year, we used stability balls that the students loved.
Due to the lack of durability of these stability balls, we had to move back to regular chairs. The students have verbalized how much they miss the stability balls. Now we are working to fund some new projects so more than a handful of students can benefit from this great resource.
