My classroom is filled with diverse students, some with special needs, and most from impoverished backgrounds. They are excited to learn and grow. I enjoy teaching these students because I create a second home for them where they come to school and feel safe.
Many of my students have parents that are absentee, incarcerated, or unable to provide a stable environment for them.
Many of the parents are uneducated and therefore cannot assist their children with schoolwork. I love the challenge of my job! I love all of my students!
My Project
My students are from impoverished households that have limited resources. Every day they come to school hungry, and as soon as breakfast ends they begin asking for food. Many of their families cannot afford to provide them with snacks, so I bring food for the class. I am only able to give them so much, as I also provide them with school supplies. They would love to have some special snacks, such as Frito Lay Chips, Nabisco Cookies, Austin Crackers, Ritz crackers, and Pepperidge Farm Goldfish. These snacks will keep them motivated during their long school day.
