Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are motivated to learn how to read, but we do not have all of the hands-on tools necessary for them to excel.
My students come from underprivileged homes.
Their parents apply to our school so they will have a better chance to be successful in life. Unfortunately, we are a charter school, so we do not receive enough funding so our students can have unlimited hands-on activities to learn to read and write.
My Project
My students will use all of these hands-on materials everyday. Our school uses a program called Daily 5, which puts our students in literacy centers every single day. The lowercase letter stamps, sight word bingo, sight word stamps, and sight word puzzles I am asking for are used in the work on words center. The stamps are a good way for my students to work on sounding out CVC words and creating phonemic awareness. The sight word bingo cards, magnets, and puzzles are perfect for sight word recognition. They will be using these tools to help them recognize sight words to help them become excited about learning how to read. The resources I am asking for will be put to good use.
These items would improve the classroom environment 100%.
Some of the activities that the students engage in could be monotonous due to the lack of hands-on materials in our classroom. With these resources, my students will not get bored and their learning will go to the next level. My students will be constantly engaged, and will always have an activity to do because there are so many activities in the requested resources.
