I have 30 wonderful and bright students. I work in a neighborhood school in Chicago. I teach ESL and special education students language arts, math, science, social studies, health, and a zillion life lessons a day. It is an extremely diverse area, and the students in our school are from various backgrounds, making our class a melting pot of ethnicities. There are six different languages spoken in my classroom, and it represents a wide variety of individuals with different social and economic backgrounds.
The school where I work is great.
The principal/staff all work together to benefit student learning. I have been working at this school for sixteen years. Unfortunately, the school lacks funds to purchase necessary supplies that are greatly needed. The school cannot provide the funds needed to purchase materials since we face tough budget cuts this year. As an educator, I continually try to find what will be the best for my students. This at times is very difficult, but can be accomplished. My school would be able to purchase materials for students, but unfortunately their are no funds available at this time.
My Project
I am requesting one iPad Pro with 2 protective cases so that they can research and complete classroom assignments. The iPad with a protective case will be used for all subjects but especially for activities that will support Common Core. The iPad would be used at all times to complete activities and programs that will help and assist ESL and Special Education learners with Common Core. Students will be taking turns using the iPad on a daily basis. My ESL students are very visual. I believe that having the ability to see the activities on the iPad will be so rewarding and will help students make connections with their assignments. Having technology in the classroom and having students using it will help increase the knowledge of students and be successful in the future. I have learned that having technology in the classroom makes a big difference in the learning of ESL students. This would help in educational programs that would assist these students in learning English.
I would love to have the opportunity to be able to continue sharing great educational programs with my students.
The iPad would benefit student learning. Your help will ensure that my students learn about a variety of subjects making connections with other resources. I believe this is a wonderful tool for learning. This iPad would be used for all subjects to have curriculum support. This will help and motivate learning in my classroom, and bring technology to a high level of education.
