We are a small publicly funded charter school and despite our limited funding the students always find a way to come together and help each other to make the best of every situation.
Many of my students are first generation Americans or immigrants themselves and they need a little extra support in their World Geography and World Cultures class to introduce them to the History and traditions of the world in which they live.
My students are an incredibly diverse group of children and work very hard to be successful.
My Project
As a Social Studies teacher, many times our classes rarely get the items that we needs outside of a set of classroom textbooks. Many of the basic supplies like markers and colored pencils are used in a variety of ways including in class projects and maps.
The students I teach are a mixture of English Language Learners and first generation Americans.
I would love to give them all the help they need which includes access to dictionaries, both traditional and bilingual. Many of the other items that we could use are pens and colored pencils for creating maps. The scratch off maps are included to show how as a class we are a multicultural room filled with different ethnic and cultural groups from around the globe.
