Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Coming from economically challenged homes, my students do not have basics like pencils. I have requested pencils, a pencil sharpener, correction tape and scissors so that students can have the supplies they need to write during Writer's Workshop.
I have 20 eager fifth grade students in my SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) classroom.
They are all learning English as their second language and come from mostly South American countries such as Columbia, El Salvador and Peru. They all receive free breakfast, snack, and lunch.
My Project
These materials will let us work hard! Having basics such as pencils, a pencil sharpener, correction tape and scissors will allow us to write and correct our work in Writer's Workshop as well as during the rest of the day. Students will also learn to respect materials in the classroom.
With these supplies, students will have all the tools they need to complete their work, in all subjects.
These basics need to be a part of every classroom and we will use them to complete a lot of learning!
