This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have gone through a lot of pencils this year and their Expo markers are all dried up. We have been working incredibly hard on writing, which is why our pencil drawer is running low. The kids love to use whiteboards during math, but it can be hard when they run out of ink in their Expo markers. Both of these will be extremely helpful in our classroom.

Not only will the needed supplies help, but we also are asking for dodgeballs and the first illustrated Harry Potter book.

I have just recently introduced dodgeball to my class, and they love it! My current dodgeballs are falling apart, so I hope to replace them and continue the fun. In addition, we will be reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone this semester and while it is a fantastic book, pictures make all books better! It helps with comprehension of the text, understanding descriptions, and helping students visualize the story better.

Lastly, the magnets and magnetic manipulatives will be helpful because I like to hang up examples of writing or work on the whiteboard. I also use base-ten blocks in my classroom for most of the math throughout the year. The larger magnetic kind will be extremely helpful because then I don't have to work under the tiny document camera and all the kids can see the movement of the blocks much easier.
