My students need 2 Samsung Galaxy Tablets for Tablet Tuesdays. I want to teach my students the benefits of tablets in a classroom or office environment.
Do you remember what it was like to see a commercial for the latest gadgets in technology but the closest you ever came to getting it is playing with the store model at a retail store? Well, that describes nearly 75% of my students.
They see the commercials, play with them at the store, then come to school and ask why our school can't have tablets.
These are typical rural students from the mountains of East Tennessee. Although many from the outside looking in may see our county as a very affluent county; this is just not the case at our school. Many students attending the county school system are still lacking computers and Internet service in the home.
My Project
By having the tablet technology at our school, I see my students walking into a college classroom with the confidence and readiness equal to other students attending college no matter what their background may be. By my students being prepared in multiple facets of technology, it will be one less hurdle for them to overcome when starting college classes, workforce or vocational training. The array of activities my students will be able to complete is limited only to their imagination.
The goal I have for my classroom is that every student have one at their computer station.
There's nothing worse than having "cool new technology" and having to put a time limit on how long a student can use it. Please help fulfill the dream I have by making a donation to this project for two tablets! Hopefully, by next year, we can have a Samsung Tablet for each student. Not only will you be making my classroom dream come true but other students in my department will have the opportunity to use them as well.
