My Students

My seniors in World Literature are great readers and writers. They would like to learn more about foreign cultures by reading works like The Kite Runner, Red Scarf Girl, and Lolita. I am committed to challenging them to analyzing history as well as historical perspectives as they read. My students are very curious about foreign cultures and enjoy doing creative writing too. I hope a donor will help me obtain more copies of these three novels so that I can further challenge the students to be great readers and writers. They will read, analyze, write essays and attempt to imitate the writing in these novels.

My Project

-My students have a thirst for reading and learning about history. The novels I have chosen will teach them about the history through detailed descriptions and events the authors portray.

- My students love reading and want more diverse literature.

I selected the novels based on the students' interests: politics, ethnic conflict, romance, war.

-My students are advanced readers and writers who want to be challenged and aren't afraid to tackle complex topics. We will write essays and articles about the books.

-In class, students will react to the literature and teach each other about the historical settings and characters.

-This kind of in-depth reading and writing will prepare them well for college English classes solidify their futures as critical thinkers.
