Necessities for Running an Autism Classroom

My students need velcro, sheet protectors, and laminating sheets so we can keep making adapted materials for our classroom.

My Students

Laminating sheets, sheet protectors, velcro. For teachers of students with autism, these are some of our favorite things.

I teach 8th grade students with Autism in a self-contained school in New York City.

Since there is such a small class ratio with such highly diverse learners, it's difficult to have materials ready that cater to every child. This requires us as teachers to make many of our own materials.

My Project

As I stated, these supplies are indispensable for our classroom. There is probably not a moment in my classroom where a person could look anywhere in the room and not see these materials being used. Since students with autism need many academic materials adapted, it is the job for us as teachers to make sure we can deliver. Therefore, we are constantly using sheet protectors and Velcro to make adapted and interactive books and activities. We also use these materials to make individualized schedules, picture symbols, and more. The laminating sheets are used to reinforce these materials so that they can be used again and again.

This is your chance to help our autism classroom be efficient well-stocked with the materials that help us to deliver high quality, individualized materials.

With these materials, we will help our student meet their goals.
