According to the 2012 State of the Child Report from the Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition, 40% of children in our town are living below poverty and 72% live in families earning less than double the federal poverty level. I give my students the most secure and nurturing environment I possibly can.
Our Title I school nurtures preschool through Grade 8 students.
Our parent involvement is better than expected. I am proud to be teaching in this culturally and racially diverse, science-focused school. I have taught Kindergarten at this school for six years. This is my second year teaching fourth grade math and science to 46 students.
My Project
I have a class set of 2015 Lenovo Chromebooks. We take very good care of them, but two broke by accident this year. It was very difficult juggling computer usage to accommodate this loss.
Each child needs their own computer.
This will provide smoother transitions, greater on task time, and overall efficiency. We use our computers daily for individually leveled math practice. Science research happens individually and as a whole class. Students share sources and information with one another. Please help support our class by donating two Lenovo Chromebooks to complete our class set. Our school budget will not support this purchase this year.
