This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being young scientists, my students are inquisitive and are constantly questioning the world around them. They have many talents and skills that they bring to our classroom everyday. They are creative and critical thinkers who are developing a scientifically based view of their worlds. They are problem solvers who are not afraid to take on complex challenges. Our school serves students of all abilities and proudly promotes the idea that all students can learn, but not on the same day and not in the same way. For our second semester we study Health. My students take the skills they learned in Science and apply it to Health topics that will affect the lives now and in the future.

My Project

As we transition to the online learning environment I need a resource to capture the interest of my students as they work at home alone. In my brick and mortar classroom my students are used to cooperative learning and getting and giving support to peers. This is difficult to do in the online environment. NearPod is a solution.

One issue I am running into is students using different technology, NearPod works with any browser on any platform.

It provides opportunity for the teacher to embed formative assessments into the learning. NearPod is customizable and also comes with standard aligned lessons that are customizable to meet the needs of my learners.
