My school serves a diverse socioeconomic population of students representing more than 30 countries. It is the largest elementary school in the district. During the 2019 school year 37% of students received a free or reduced-price meal.
We have a building full of students who are actively seeking new ways to learn.
Each year, the students who enter my class are like a new puzzle to put together. I am always excited to learn new ways to engage these students and encourage learning. The main theme I want to integrate this year in my classroom is problem solvers.
As we continue to incorporate new technology in the classroom, I am seeking ways to make my students active, engaged learners.
I have been using the free version of Nearpod - an interactive slide show tool that engages students and promotes collaboration - students love Nearpod. They come in excited and ready to learn when they know it's a Nearpod day. With the class sizes going past the maximum some students aren't able to join in.
With a platinum membership, I will have access to all Nearpod lessons without any additional cost.
With this access, I will be able to allow students to interact with the lessons at their own pace and demonstrate what they have learned by completing interactive activities. Some of these interactive activities include matching, filling in the blank, and even drawing examples of content knowledge!
