I teach dance at an urban school in Southern California. My students are first or second generation immigrants and have elected to take dance for their physical education or fine art credit.
Coming back to school has been an adjustment for all but dance has been a haven for many.
This year we have more students in dance than ever before
My Project
The National Dance Education Organization is a community of dance educators that share curriculum, create networks, resources, and host the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.
With this membership, students will be able to join an Honor Society which recognizes their achievements in the arts.
As colleges have become much more competitive, having an Honor Society will help my students reach their goals!
In addition, the NDEO hosts an annual conference filled with dance educators, presentations, and ideas for Dance Education. An institutional membership will allow me to register as a teacher for the event.
Universities, high schools, performing arts academies, and private studios are all members of the NDEO. It would be great to join!
