My Students

My students are inquisitive about everything pertaining to math! They love to be engaged in problems that are in-depth and require reasoning to be solved. Their favorite problems are problems that connect to a concept they have already learned. They love hearing me say, "Use what you know to get to what you don't know.” Relying on prior knowledge is a huge focus in my classroom.

My students have a thirst for knowledge that I attempt to feed every day!

I create projects that focus on the excitement that my students bring to class. Students teach one another by sharing their strategies with their peers and validating their reasoning through productive mathematical arguments.

My Project

It has always been a dream of mine to become an active part of NCTM, which reaches teachers across the country. Attending this conference will enable me to take that step by engaging in mathematical professional development that will help me create conceptual lessons for my newly acquired middle grades math position.

While attending the conference, I will be able to network with like-minded math educators and attend sessions that will allow me to gain insights on creating the most engaging, hands-on lessons.

I will learn from industry leaders about content specific peadogogical approaches that will further enhance instruction for all of my classes.
