This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a low socioeconomic background. One hundred percent of my students participate in the free lunch and breakfast program. Our students have a zest for learning despite adversity.
My goal is to inspire my students, their families, and our school community to become lifelong learners.
My students are ready and willing to learn when lessons are integrated with hands-on activities and technology. They become alive when they acquire an understanding of the lessons and the corresponding standards. It would be amazing to allow them an opportunity to teach the things they have learned to their families! They will be able to retain what they have learned if they are able to express it and share it.
My students are eager to work as a team with the people that love and support them to improve their knowledge of standards in science and math.
My Project
This upcoming school year, I would like to work with my students on creating a book that would guide them and their families through the world of Common Core Math. The materials needed to create these books would be toner to make copies and binding materials like binding combs and binding covers to keep the pages of the books together.
The “Homework Helper Guides” will be the solution to help parents assist my students with unfamiliar math methods.
These guides will allow both the parents and my students to gain confidence in math, meanwhile giving my students a guide to refer back to when they have forgotten and need to refresh their memories on certain concepts before moving on to something new.
