Help me give my students access to audio with headphones and earbuds. With these items, students will be able to work at their own pace and listen to videos and other online resources.
The students in my class have a diverse set of academic and social-emotional needs. Each student in my class receives special education services. In my class, we address that we receive help because we have a "disability," but that a disability just means we need more help or support in certain areas.
Many of the students I work with this year view reading as a task or a chore.
My goal this year is to have students see that there are benefits and enjoyable aspects to reading the right book!
My Project
As we continue to move forward with developing technology, some teaching practices have adjusted. Instead of a traditional lecture, lesson, or read aloud, we are trying to provide students with recordings of books, different assessments, or videos. By doing so, students can work at their own pace and refer back to specific examples.
The majority of the headphones I have requested will stay at school to support students who may forget them.
Our building does have plenty of headphones for all learners, but having a class set allows for students to spend more time on learning and less time leaving the room.
For students who cannot afford their own pair of headphones, we will provide the earbuds requested in this project. Our goal is to never have a child feel singled out in any way, which means providing students with their own set to keep if/when needed.
