Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class has many English Language Learners and most qualify for free/reduced price lunch. These are students who love to learn but experience many obstacles outside of school that can hinder learning. My goal is to provide experiences that they may not otherwise get which will enhance their learning.
My school is a close-knit group of teachers and families that want to find ways to provide all of our students opportunities to learn everything they can to be successful in their lives, despite the many obstacles they experience outside of school.
Many of our families and parents are English Language Learners as well, and they have difficulties helping their students due to language barriers and financial limitations. Our teachers aim to minimize those limitations as much as possible by providing this exceptional opportunity to learn at Nature's Classroom.
My Project
My students need financial assistance for a class fieldtrip to Nature's Classroom for learning in the outdoor classroom. This is a 3-day trip for students where they will be able to experience and learn about nature in non-traditional ways, such as taking hikes, learning about survival in the woods, cooking meals on an open fire, and building projects from from resources found in nature. I have been able to take 2 previous groups of students on this trip, and they came back to school with an abundance of new knowledge that they were excited to build upon back in the classroom.
My goal is for as many of my students as possible to participate in this trip.
I do not want financial concerns to keep any of my students from participating. Your donations will allow these students to have this amazing opportunity during our April vacation this year.
