Our school is an elementary school in Manchester, NH, the state's largest city. We are a Title I school with students from diverse backgrounds. Many of our students speak English as a Second Language. We have a high poverty rate with over half of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Many of our students come from families who are unable to purchase needed school supplies.
My fifth grade students need books about Natural Disasters for our Natural Disasters Research Project.
My Project
My fifth grade students love learning about natural disasters. My students need books to research natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanoes, in order to complete their natural disaster research project. My students will learn how to use the informational texts for their research, note taking, and writing a natural disaster report. They will also be presenting the information on a tri-fold poster board and will conduct hands-on activities and create models as part of their presentations. These books will help my fifth grade students gather all the information they need to be successful with this project.
