My Students

Our typical day is created by reading lots of engaging texts and discussing them in depth. Help us by getting us this book so we can learn about animal behaviors.

The Common Core has allowed me to incorporate more novels into our literacy units.

However, good novels are expensive, especially when you are buying a full classroom set. I want my students to be exposed to a variety of texts by the end of the year, and my biggest challenge is purchasing them. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. We service the homeless shelter and have a large population of refugee students including other English Language Learners from a variety of first languages. Many of these students have limited access to books. Please help us get a greater variety of books into our curriculum.

My Project

In our curriculum we have a unit about animals. I would like to use the book National Geographic Ape Escapes to increase vocabulary and build knowledge about reading longer nonfiction texts. This will help them become better readers of nonfiction texts which is one of the Common Core standards. You will help students who come from a variety of backgrounds learn about animal behaviors as we tie it to our second and third grade curriculum. Please help me build my novel sets so that students for years can enjoy wonderful books.

This book will help my students by giving them informational texts that we can compare and contrast.

My students come from high poverty so they do not have books that are readily available.
