My Students
My classroom is composed of a diverse group of students. Many come from low-income homes with over 75% qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Almost 20% have learning disabilities, and about 5% are English as Second Language learners. Despite economic disadvantages, my students continue to perform well in state and local testing with us outperforming many neighboring district with better economic status. To meet the needs of these dynamic students, I would love to continue my training and be recertified as a National Board Teacher.
My Project
National Board certification is a long process that requies teachers to self-evaluate their pedagogy and practices. This type of reflection ensures that students receive the best practices available and increases their learning opportunities drastically. My students deserve the best trained teacher possible, and there is no better program than the rigorous expections of the National Board of Professional Teaching. With this professional reflection, I will implement the newest teaching practices in a way that all learners can benefit. Research and development, as well as, collaboration are key parts of the certification and will ensure my classroom is an environment where learning occurs daily for all students.
