My students are creative, active, and absolutely amazing! We are a Title I School, but my students don't let that hold them back! As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunches. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My kindergartners are enthusiastic and always eager to learn as soon as they enter the classroom every day!
I love to hear them say, "What are we doing today, Ms. W?" I am so blessed to be a part of their lives.
My Project
My students have recently been exposed to yoga in our classroom and they can't get enough of it! I introduced yoga to my students as a way of relaxing and refocusing them after transitions. I want each student to have their very own yoga mats. It will teach them to respect each other's space, and help to stay centered in their yoga practice. I simply do not have the money to provide these materials myself, and I don't want to ask the parents in my classroom. I am asking for your help to make this great yoga experience a fulfilling one for each of my students.
Yoga and mindfulness meditation, can change the physical structure of the brain, effectively training it to work in more positive and productive ways.
I have already seen a huge difference in the way my students work. They are even being more respectful of others and working out their problems in a more peaceful way.
