My students need yoga mats so that during our daily yoga/meditation, they can feel comfortable and are able to concentrate and stay focused on finding calmness in their day.

My Students

My students come from all over the world---literally. We have 8 different languages spoken within my class alone! Many of my kindergartners have never attended preschool or daycare, so our room is the first place they will be away from their families for an extended period of time each day.

Although we come from different backgrounds, we all speak the language of kindergarten with kindness, generosity, and excitement about learning everything!

Many of my students have to overcome educational obstacles, and I want to provide them with the most comfortable, child friendly environment possible. I want for them to feel successful and be successful so that they can be our future leaders!

My Project

Incorporating yoga and meditation practices within our kindergarten day has helped my students find calm and refocus on our school day. Our days are full of busy-ness, and using yoga is a way to help each child learn how to determine and regulate their feelings and actions/reactions.

Having a yoga mat for each child will help define each child's space and give them a place to feel comfortable.

With a cold tile floor and limited space on our rug, the mats will be a warm, inviting addition to our yoga/ meditation break. The students will be excited each day to use the mats!
