I need your help, let's YOGA it out in school with Breathe for Change.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Every student is special and each personality adds to our community. Our students are fun, loving, powerful, strong, inquisitive, passionate, driven, and at times in need.
Imagine a community where everyone counts, has a voice, and is heard.
Imagine a school where learning isn't just reading and writing but life skills, relationships, and community work.
Those are my students. Real Life, Real People, Real Stories, and Real LOVE!
Bringing yoga into school will teach students patience, self-control and open their minds to new experiences. I want to introduce my students to the benefits of meditation, body awareness and community using yoga and yoga practices. I need to complete Breathe For Change 200-hour SEL yoga training. Yoga and its benefits can be used for a lifetime and I want to share that with my students. In these trying times, I want to teach students how to empathize, meditate, and be mindful all while having fun and challenging our bodies, and the best way to learn is by doing. So I'm doing it. I am learning yoga so I can teach while I learn.
We want a school environment full of experience.
SEL will be a value in our school community. This is something I plan to share with and then teach my fellow colleagues so as a community we can grow and support our students. I hope to use this license in my after school program and during our school elective and advisory periods.
