My students need books to complete their essay--comparing and contrast Chinese Legends and World Classic legends. They also need iPads to do class related projects.
My class is full of discussions and sharing! Students are building a global awareness perspective and are learning to embrace all cultural differences. My students need books and other technology resources like iPads to do research and projects. The internet will bring the world into my classroom!
My students are different ages and grade levels ( Freshman to senior), they are very nice and well behaved students with the desire to learn somethings new and also help each other to grow in learning.
My school is a IB, college prep high school. We are embedding all of the 10 IB students learners' profiles in our daily teaching activities. We encourage students to seek and explore, have fun of learning and to take risks. Students are encouraged to try new challenges and use critical thinking skills. As a teacher, I am so proud of our school and students, they work hard, challenge themselves and strive to change the world. They inspire me to work event harder to help them achieve their goals. I love how teachers at Renaissance help each other by sharing teaching ideas, and working across curriculum. I am grateful to be working in this school.
My Project
This is my first year teaching Myth and Legends. My students have expressed great interest in learning how literature about myths and legends affect the history and the culture of the a nation or region. My students want to learn all about different cultural aspects affect different ethnic groups of people and how those groups have grown to become what they are now. Since my heritage is Chinese, I want to bring this class something new and exciting, I want the students to read the book " Journey to the West"--the classic Chinese legend hero, and write an essay that will compare and contrast with other world class legendary stories. From the writing process, the students will learn how to compare different characteristics of the heroes in the world and how they embedded in different cultures throughout history and be able understand this topic.
Students will use iPads to record the students groups projects and analysis the students learning outcome
The donations will help purchase enough books for this project and they are reused every year for different reading and writing projects related to Myth and Legends class.
The project will help the students build a great writing skills also help them build critical thinking skills. The books will not only add my class reading materials but also give the students a much broader view on easter countries such as China. The iPads will help recording all the students projects
