I am a kindergarten teacher at Flowertown Elementary School in Summerville, SC. The students in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds and varying prekindergarten experiences, if any.
One of the most important skills for kindergarten students to develop is a good foundation in math. This can be done in multiple ways, but I believe that small group learning is one of the best ways to meet each of the students needs in math.
I am requesting the hands-on math manipulatives for the time I spend teaching math to small groups. As a first year teacher, I was not blessed with the all the manipulatives and materials that I need to teach each concept, but I do believe that the hands-on math center box will be a huge improvement. This math supply center box will supply me with manipulatives designed to teach my terrific students time, money, measurement, shapes and numbers.
Math is a very important skill for each student to understand at an early age. Math is a part of everything we do. I just want to give each of my students the materials they need for mastering math skills. I would hate to think that my students would leave kindergarten with math still a mystery to them.
