Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K Students are culturally diverse and live in an Urban area of NJ. Many students qualify for the free or reduced price lunch program which means they live below or near the poverty level. The best thing about my students is they don't know or care about any of the information mentioned above. They come to school each day ready and the willingness to learn.
I love how excited my three to five year old students become when they are given the opportunity to create and experience a new art project, they are so appreciative and eager to encounter new things.
My Project
Every Pre-k student has a different attention span and ability level for Art & Fine motor demands required to complete a given project. When students complete a project early or has put in as much work that they are capable of doing and there and wait time is required before the group can move on to the next activity, disruptions sometimes occur by students who have trouble waiting a few minutes for everyone to complete their project or clean up procedures.
Mystery art boxes will cut down on disruptions in the classroom, students getting off task and smooth our transitions between activities.
Most of all I hope the Mystery Art box Ideas will foster each child's love and excitement of art.
Students will independently access their Mystery Art Box once they have completed their assignment. Art boxes will include a new material every 2 weeks. Students will experience a variety of materials that will always be a surprise. Materials that will fill the Mystery boxes can be paperless crayons and rubbing kits, wikki stix, play dough, Model Magic, scented markers, stampers, color shape puzzles, scissors, color toys & cubes for identifying and sorting colors- primary and secondary colors.
Since there are 15 students in each of my art classes I will need a minimum of 15 of each item So there is enough Mystery Art Boxes for each child in the class.
