My World and Me: Discover Diversity through Digital Field Trips
Help me give my students the opportunity to explore the world and beyond with an Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Google Expedition Device (Homido Grab-Virtual Reality Headset/Android VR Device for Google Expeditions Kit/ ReTrak-Bluetooth Selfie Stick)
My students are happy, lively, and excited about learning in my school library. They are always eager to see what fun STEM activities or stories I have planned for the day. My students live in a rural area of North Carolina. They enjoy learning about different cultures all over the world. We begin class by introducing or reviewing the STEM/Literacy activity in each station. After selecting their books in the Media Center each week they easily transition into centers and begin to build, engage, and create. My library is alive and full of conversation as students work through challenges together in small groups. My students are excited about learning and are always eager to try new challenges as I introduce students to new books about diverse cultures and students engage in STEM activities.
My students are engineers, explorers and engaged learners, they are eager to learn about the world around them through Multicultural stories, and Augmented/Virtual Reality learning experiences.
My Project
Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality experiences transcend language and make exploration accessible to both typical and atypical students. AR/VR is an inclusive activity for ALL my students and gives them the freedom to be highly engaged and excited to learn about different cultures.
Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality will bring Diversity to life for my students right before their very eyes and allow my students a first person perspective as they learn about multiculturalism from Native Americans, the Aztecs and Beyond.
Students will have the opportunity to explore different careers through various career expeditions from a Social Worker, to a Paleontologist, Product Engineer, and Metal Artisan. Students will be exposed to a variety of fascinating careers they may otherwise not experience with out this AR/VR technology.
Students will be able to view objects in Augmented Reality from Modes of Transportation, to Bees, and even a tornado. Students can learn safely from the Library as they explore animals and weather that might be hazardous.
