My Students

The school at which I work has devised a student-centric program that specifically entrenches youthful determination for finding ways to help organizations within the community. The combination of social responsibility and the expression of gratitude to those that impact our daily lives has empowered students to unify in improving the world in which they live.

Our school has limited resources available to advance our academic programs or initiatives.

Our community also lacks the social wealth to help make available essential components to student success. Our students come from widely varying socioeconomic levels with more than not living from paycheck to paycheck. This makes the ability to fulfill all necessary aspects of a well-rounded education especially difficult.

My Project

I am creating this project to assemble classroom sets of two classics that thematically coincide well with each other. They both focus on bravery and self-discovery in fear and uncertainty, a theme kids in their pre-teens relate to all too well.

The classroom sets of My Side of the Mountain and Chains will turn reading into a social experience for my students.

Both books are cornerstones of comparative analysis for classics such as White Fang, Hatchet, and many others that are surely a part of their future literary experience. Being able to apply those themes now, and strengthen their comprehension down the road, encourages students to further delve into reading.
