Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and immerse themselves daily in the cultures of their peers through learning two languages (English and Spanish). Our students strive toward academic excellence in both languages in all academic subjects which makes them very unique, though they are students with Individualized Educational Program and diagnosed with learning disabilities.
Each child brings something special to the classroom through their experiences and areas of expertise.
They make our school an exceptional place to be through their determination to be successful academically while embracing the many cultures that come together within our walls.
My Project
I am a special educator that services nearly 40 students in a push-in and pull-out model at our K-8 dual language school. Many of my students are not at grade level in reading. They are part of a rule based reading program.
My students are quite capable of learning when given the proper tools.
The folders I am requesting will keep all of their program materials in one place. The highlighting tape and reading tool will allow them to track their reading. This will help my students continue to make progress towards their learning goals.
I also service a small group of students for math. The calculators will help my students who have not mastered their math facts.
