Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My dyslexia students are unique learners that have specialized needs for acquiring the skills necessary to read, write, and spell. Dyslexia and dysgraphia students learn best through multi sensory instruction that engages them with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic-tactile stimulation. They are intuitive, resilient, innovative learners that teach me how to be a better educator every day that I spend with them.
My Project
By having access to a color printer and resources from Teachers Pay Teachers, I will be able to print decodable passages, fluency readings, and multi sensory activities that will fully immerse my students into the learning process. The printer would allow me to send invaluable phonics resources home to my students that are learning through virtual instruction. Additionally, I would use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to purchase a complete set of digital phonics lessons to help my virtual students learn from home.
My students' intense reading interventions would be tremendously enhanced with the ability to convert text into dyslexia font, highlight decoding strategies, and color coordinate consonant and vowel letters.
Dyslexia students thrive when everything can be color-coded and adapted to their own unique needs. Additionally, interactive notebooks, class journals, and anchor charts are all things that I’d like to print in color to display for the students, or to use as reference.
