My fourth graders attend a close-knit rural community school in Kentucky. They are highly motivated, extremely creative and great problem solvers. They have developed a deep love of reading and researching. They love our blue ribbon school and work hard every day!
As their reading teacher, I love introducing them to quality picture books, chapter books, magazines and more to help instill a love of learning.
These students are strong readers and have shown a tremendous amount of growth in reading this year. They deserve great books!
My Project
My goal is to create an ever-evolving, student-centered classroom library. I am constantly looking for new book series to spark my students' interest in reading. Students are always giving me suggestions of series they would like to see in our classroom library. These include the Kingdom Keepers, Survivor Diaries, Zoe's Rescue Zoo, Swindle, and Owl Diary series. My students are BEGGING for these new additions to our bookshelves. I fully believe if a child is not a reading fan; it is because they have not found the right book. My job is to surround my students with tons of books and especially those that they specifically are asking for! Help us load our shelves with these new book series!
