My classroom consists of 20 bright, curious, and hard working 4th grade students. Each morning, they come to school with a smile, ready to learn and tackle new challenges. My students especially enjoy having choices, interacting with one another, creating questions and debatable topics, sharing different points of view, and growing ideas together in many different collaborative settings I offer in class.
As their proud teacher, I always look for ways to introduce curriculum in a way that is engaging, motivating, and meaningful to all learners, regardless of their readiness, reading levels, interests, or learning styles.
My Project
My students are always eager to share their work with me and their peers throughout the day. I know having my students use individual whiteboards will boost their learning. Students will be using individual whiteboards for brainstorming ideas, think/write-pair-share, quick-writes, number talk, reciprocal teaching, small group discussions, and lots more.
Individual whiteboards will not only be used for student engagement, but they will be used as an awesome tool for me to quickly check for students' levels of understanding.
With a white board, I will be able to quickly assess if my lesson is making sense to each individual student in my class. Based on my observation, I will be able to move on, re-teach my lesson, or form small groups of students later as necessary.
My students are currently using notebooks, sheets of paper, and sticky notes when sharing ideas during reader's workshop, writer's workshop, number talk, application problem, and etc. These have limits, and I am sure using individual whiteboards will put a smile on my students' faces.
