My Students

My students love coming to school. They are sweet, loving children who look forward to school every single day. However, my students struggle with reading. Some of my students are unable to read books because they are significantly reading below grade level. They also struggle with spelling during writing activities. Many of them are missing basic reading, writing, and spelling skills. My students also struggle with basic math facts. I really want to help my students to become better readers and mathematicians by the end of the school year!

All of my students receive free lunch and come from low-income homes.

I work with students from many different backgrounds. English is a second language for many of my students. My school is one of the biggest schools in the state. Many of the students come from single family homes and live in very tough neighborhoods.

My Project

My students go on Lexia daily to improve basic reading skills to increase phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, listening and reading comprehension, and vocabulary skills. Students who make excellent progress in Lexia will be rewarded with a beautiful, colorful certificates to take home.

Currently, we do not have any color printers in our school!

Unfortunately the color printer funded on Donors from three years ago recently stopped working and we need a new one!

When my students are rewarded with a beautiful, colorful certificates for working hard, I print one to hang up on the classroom wall in school to show their progress. Having our very own color printer, I can also print extra certificates for my students to take home to their parents and families and display at home! My students are always so excited and proud to take their certificates home to show their

Please help my students improve their knowledge of sight words! Many of my students struggle to fluently read sight words. Flash cards will help my students recall sight words with automaticity! Making flash cards for my students to take home will allow them to practice their words multiple times at school and at home with their families! However, We need ink to print flash cards.

I will print out flash cards for all of my students to be sent home at the end of the school year. My students will use the flash cards to practice their sight words over the summer with their families. This will help my students to recall the words with automaticity and help my students become more fluent readers (and be ready to read in September). Math flashcards will also be sent home during the summer. My students can practice their addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts.
