Help me give my students a chance at excelling on the NWEA Exam. High NWEA scores allow students admission into a selective enrollment high school. The prep course costs $400 per student and is for 8 weeks.

These 8 students are some of our top-performing academic scholars at our school. They are 6th and 7th graders. They work hard every day, have excellent grades and attendance, participate in sports and the arts, and volunteer in the school and in their communities. They consistently model leadership for their peers.
Our school is located in the Dearborn homes housing project.
Many of our students are from low-income single-parent homes. However, each of these 8 students have a supportive parent at home, that I am in touch with, and are motivated to help their child succeed. These students strive to do better for themselves and envision improving the lives of their families in the process.
This year a former student was murdered in addition to a parent. Many of our students suffer from PTSD because of the crime around them. Despite all of these obstacles these 8 come in every day bright and early with a smile and an eagerness to learn.
They and their parents are excited at the prospect of taking on additional coursework! At the heart of this is their understanding of education as the means of improving their situation.
Test Prep Chicago is a well established prep course. It has proven results in increasing students test scores on the NWEA, high school and college entrance exams.
This course is already offered at select CPS level 1+(highest rated) schools and at private and parochial schools, where parents are able to pay for their child's fees.
The course will prepare students by focusing on literacy and mathematics and teaching them the skills they need to advance in their studies.
7th grade NWEA Spring scores count towards 33% of selective enrollment admission, 300 out of a total of 900 points.
By providing this prep course at Drake, we are giving our students that live in Tier 1 communities, known by CPS as the lowest socio-economic area the opportunities available to Tier 4 communities, the highest socio-economic area.
