My students are 3 or 4 years old when they enter my class for the first time. They come from families with little or no income. Many of them cannot speak English. This can be hard, not only on my students but even on their parents. They are entrusting their babies to me. I assure parents that when they walk into my classroom, they become my babies, too.
My students are like blank slates and it is my job to expose them to experiences that encourage exploration!
They will become readers, scientists, artists, writers, friends, singers, and investigators. I want to provide opportunities for my students to become lifelong learners.
These read aloud books will provide my students with the opportunity to hear stories that they normally would not be able to hear at home. Most of my students are English Language Learners so having the CD with the book helps parents and children enjoy the story together. They will be able to connect with the story. After reading the story, they can talk about it.
Reading or listening to books builds may important foundational skills
My students will be introduced to new vocabulary. These books will help my students enjoy the pleasure that reading can bring to a person. Reading is one of the most important things parents and teachers can do with children!
