Help me give my students more STEM learning opportunities with the Kid K'Nex Classroom Collection, Creative LEGO Brick Set, and the Q-BA-MAZE 2.0: Ultimate Stunt Set.
Every day I walk in, and my students are filled with excitement for the day! We greet each other at the door with a hug, high five or handshake, every morning. Their love for learning encourages me to do everything I possibly can to get them to where they need to be to be successful.
When my students are having fun and are learning in ways that are conducive to their needs, it makes for a truly amazing learning experience.
I love to take a more project-based learning approach whenever possible. My students are able to take charge of their learning and lead the instruction when we are able to inquire about the things they want to learn about most. I try to be as hands-on as I can and to constantly have the students up and moving. My students are able to learn so much better this way.
My Project
I am asking for more STEM materials because I currently have very little. All I have right now are a small box of LEGOs and a few things that I have created myself. I am wanting to get more because my students absolutely LOVE having time to create and think critically. I asked for the LEGO set because the amount of LEGOs I currently have, just simply isn't enough for more than 2-3 kids to play with at a time. My students are always asking me to get more LEGOS. I also am asking for the Q-BA-MAZE 2.0: Ultimate Stunt Set and all of the extra parts because not only would I love to use this as a STEM activity, but I would also love to use it as a classroom management system where instead of points, beans, marbles, etc, we will get pieces to the marble track and can create something so unique!
Giving students the freedom to create and think critically, produces life long learners!
There is so much research out there that supports giving student STEM opportunities to think outside the box. I love watching them create a vision in their minds and work so hard to try and achieve it. It is the absolute best thing to watch them struggle and then watch them succeed and work through the struggle on their own. The smile on their faces just lights up the room!
Not only do they enjoy being able to create but little do they know, they are actually helping themselves grow in many other areas. With these STEM activities, my students will be able to work together to create things and think critically. It will also help them with things like being kind and respectful while working with a team.
