My students need wobble cushions and balance balls to give them a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them and help them to work collaboratively with their classmates.

My Students

I teach a group of 20 first graders in a Title 1 school. All students at our school receive free breakfast and 75% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekends. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My students come to me with varying backgrounds and levels of family support.

My students are all hard workers and have extremely high goals set for themselves and I have a huge responsibility to help them achieve their goals.

My Project

Flexible seating will allow my students to take control of their learning environment. During the school day we move around a lot, but we only have the carpet and our chairs at our tables.

My students would thrive with flexible seating!

The flex space balance balls will allow them to move around while learning. The wobble cushions will allow students to sit at the floor tables comfortably.

These flexible seating options will provide students the opportunity to bounce, move silently or sit comfortably on the floor all while being engaged in learning. By providing different learning spaces for my students, I can better meet their individual needs and create an environment where they can be successful first graders.
