My Students
My students are truly thirsting for knowledge! They are bright, intelligent young men and women who just want to learn and be able to have books in our classroom to read for pleasure.
They want to have choices and be able to read some more modern literature. They are actually interested in reading. Not just because they have to, but because they want to. For pleasure. Sadly, this is rare in our area. We need to encourage and provide for them.
My Project
My students need books to read. They are reluctant readers, so I want to give them opportunities to read books that are interesting and exciting to them. I want them to be willingly engaged. There is a huge world out there they know nothing about; these books could open their minds and experiences.
The key to becoming successful writers, enriching their vocabulary, and making sense of the world we live in is inside a book. They just need the opportunity to open one up and enjoy it. All it takes is one spark. Through novels we can learn tolerance and acceptance and embrace differences.
