My Students

My first graders attend a great school in Northern California. The school that I work for is in a high-poverty area. Some of my students face the normal things that are often associated with poverty. These obstacles do not impact their love for school. My students love to learn new things and are very excited about learning how to read.

I am very happy that I work at a school where the staff really believes that all students can achieve academic success with the right support and mindset.

My Project

Field trips are wonderful experiences for young students. For many students, field trips are a meaningful opportunity for them to explore the world around them.

My students do not have stay at home parents with SUVs and full coverage insurance to drive us to our field trip destination, or the extra money to fund the bus which costs almost $800.00.

Other schools have parents drive the students to field trips, or they ask their parents to fund the trips. Both of these are not an option for me.

The San Francisco Aquarium of the Bay is the perfect place for my 1st graders to learn about the marine life that surrounds them. My students deserve to have the same experiences as other students in wealthier areas. This project will cover the cost of round trip bus transportation and admission to the San Francisco Aquarium of the Bay.
