Help me give my students the feedback they need to be successful in learning mathematics in a virtual learning environment, by my having the capability to write on their work when presented to me through their google classroom.
I teach at a public charter school that services 5 surrounding rural areas. My school is a Title 1 school with many families that are considered low socioeconomic. I teach mathematics and prepare students for their life endeavors.
My students are awesome.
They step up to a challenge even when they don't always have the tools needed to work in this pandemic. They are working diligently to improve their mathematical abilities.
My Project
Covid-19 is an ongoing battle and now students are facing a new challenge in the way they learn. Virtual teaching is an overwhelming task when teachers don't have all the tools they need. I teach high school mathematics. In a traditional face to face class I am able to provide immediate feedback by marking, circling mistakes, writing comments, highlighting, and even reworking part of their problem to help them learn from their mistakes.
However, in virtual learning, all work is submitted through google classroom, and giving feedback is a monumental task.
Currently I am having to give students feedback through the private comment section and in paragraph form. Students have commented that they miss having the feedback on their paper, so that it can be beside the problem in question. To be able to provide students this feedback on their papers, I need an iPad Pro so that I can easily mark their individual papers with specific feedback beside the problem. I believe that this will help relieve some of the anxiety and stress that students face in this pandemic and guide them in being successful and proud of what they have accomplished.
