People often ask me why I commute so far away to teach when I could work in a much more affluent community closer to where I live. The simple answer is because I have never been a happier teacher than when I'm with my students. They make me smile, laugh, sing and dance, and challenge me every day.
There are five different primary languages in my homeroom this year.
The entire district receives free breakfast and lunch due to high poverty levels and there's nowhere else I'd rather be.
My Project
Our school is one that prides itself on our passion for and dedication to STEM learning. Due to severe budget issues, we seldom have the materials needed to provide our students with the STEM background that we want them to have.
In my first grade classroom I see the love of creating and building and want to help nurture that passion so that they will learn problem solving skills to help them throughout their lives.
With your donation to our project, my students will have so many opportunities to build and problem solve using these high quality and highly motivational STEM challenge kits. They will work to read blue prints, build prototypes, and read about various people that are in various STEM roles. Here's to the next generation of engineers!
