Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite adversity, administration, teachers, staff members, parents and community partners are fully committed to today’s scholars and tomorrow’s leaders; we are in the business of transforming children’s lives. Our school community is located in the northward section of Newark, NJ. The pre-kindergarten to eighth grade pupil population is comprised of nearly 20% bilingual and 25% special education students. Our organization is very unique as we specialize in promoting social justice both locally and nationally to our 1,060 learners.
In addition to promoting academic rigor and excellence for our scholars, we strive to support their social and emotional learning as well; developing productive citizens of the 21st century.
Such efforts entail innovative thinking and implementing unique initiatives to support this work. Annual programs such as our Social Justice Trip to Washington, D.C., Girls and Technology, Hour of Power: Celebrating National Law Week, Disney Kids and My Brother's/Sister's Keeper fostered positive transformations and created memorable experiences for each learner.
My Project
Creating vision boards will benefit our middle school community by serving as a constant reminder to remain focus on achieving personal goals collectively. This board will be visible in the school community and serve as a culminating activity to character education programs implemented with community partnerships.
Such efforts entail innovative thinking and implementing unique initiatives to support this work.
Collaboration is critical in a large school setting while meeting the demands of the 21st century. This My Brother's/Sister's Keeper Inspirational Project will complement several special activities scheduled over the course of the academic year to enhance student achievement. With limited funding in this area, it crucial to maintain it will impact the overall well being of our children.
